In Japan it’s a custom to make the bags patina because it means you own MANY bags and vintage is wonderful, also it is frowned upon to have a “new” looking bag- it means you only have one and you are too careful.
ALSO, there is a difference between patina and straight out DIRT on the handles. Dirt is black brown and patina is in different levels of honey.
(8 out of 10 women in Japan own atleast one LV)

TY for the reply. I recently had my LV Rondelle (out of production) repaired to the tune of $500.00..ouch! I used it for many years…had it strapped onto the front of an ATV last year while going through mud flats in Aruba. When I got it back the new parts were almost white! I fixed it with grapeseed oil.
I am quite a bit older than you (OK, a lot) & that might explain my love of patina…..I am patina-ed myself..LOL.

I hate the patina process too. A little is a ok but I think when people walk around with their dirty looking Louis bag handles and think they’re the aren’t.

Good Tips, I’ve had my Damier Speedy 25 for 2yrs and this past summer noticed that near the zipper part were several cracks. I took it to my the 5th ave store and they told that it is dehydrated and that I should leave it in its dust bag when its not being used the only problem is that Ive used it everyday since I bought it.
